Did you know:
"Fish are stocked every night between March 1 and October 31 at a rate of 2.25 trout per tag sold for that day. Fish are stocked in approximately 30 different locations during weekends and 23 different locations during the week. For example, in 2004, 190,000 trout, weighing 157,000 pounds, were stocked for this program. The average sized fish stocked was 12.6 inches. Just think about it, that is 68,045 trout or 55,593 pounds per mile of stream!"

Trout are stocked between Cedar Grove and Akers Ferry too periodically by truck. This area is known at the white ribbon trout area. The locals say that your best bet for trout is above Pultite and the chances are even better the further upstream you go. Below Cedar Grove, any bait is open and you'll have your best luck catching a new stocker on whole kernel corn. The trout that have been in the river for a while are trickier to catch and you'll have better bet catching those big ones with artificial lure or flies. Another fact is that Brown Trout are more more elusive than Rainbow Trout. Best bet is 2-4 lb. test line when fishing for either variety of trout, but I've even heard of some using clear sewing thread for line. What's that, about 1/2 lb. test? Whoah, you better have that drag set just right so as not to snap your line!
