Ozark Riverways Taking Picnic Shelter Reservations
Reservations for Ozark National Scenic Riverways’ picnic shelters will begin January 18, 2005 for the coming year. Persons wishing to reserve the shelters at Big Spring, Round Spring or Alley Spring should call 573-323-4236, ext 0, or visit the Park Headquarters in Van Buren. Reservations will not be accepted before 8:00 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday January 18.
Shelters rent for $30.00, which must be paid within ten days of making the reservation. It is not necessary to reserve a shelter to use one, if no one has already reserved it for a particular day, they are available on a first come first served basis. However, if you are planning an event, it would be best to know that someone else hasn’t gotten there first before all your guests arrive! A reservation guarantees you exclusive use for that particular day.
Credit cards are not accepted for shelter reservations. Checks should be made out to: “Department of the Interior, National Park Service”, and cash is also accepted.
Park Headquarters is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday, and on Holidays. Any questions about reserving shelters should be directed to (573) 323-4236, ext 0 during regular business hours. Visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/ozar for the latest information.
