I just got back from our Memorial Day 2006 Float Trip. This was my groups 3rd year staying at Deer Run.
First, I must say that the staff at both the camping and canoe office have been GREAT to work with. The extra bathrooms and showers that have been added really cut down on the wait for the showers in the morning. And of course, having a site right next to the river is great.
Complaints are:
Quiet time is strictly enforced (Even if you are just talking at your campsite) Police are positioned right outside entrance to campground (pulled over for not using turn signal although no tickets were given) The wristbands they make you wear all weekend are annoying.
All-in-all it is a nice place to stay.

Found this review online in a Yahoo tent camping group and thought I would share:
"Mar. 24, 2006 michael hackwith <turkeyhawk2005@...>
I've also camped at Deer Run Campground on the Current River. Current River is beautiful too. I didn't think it was as clear as Black River. But the scenery is better. More bluffs etc. I'm still not ready to take my kids on Current yet. I know alot of people do, but not me. It's too fast I think. Deer Run is ok, but I bet there are bettercampgrounds on the Current. It had a swimming pool. The showers I thought could be nicer. When I was there it seemed like the campground to go to if you want to party. Van Buren is the town that's closest to deer run, and it has groceries and restaurants. It seems like a real neat small town."
