After reading all the past reviews, I have decided to post a review of my own. We have just returned from spending Labor Day 2010 at JasonPlace with 30 of our Friends. We Stayed in The Happy Hollow Section of JasonPlace Camp ground, and this is what we found.
1. The roads from the top of the Hill to the bottom are red Rock and rough. You generally find this type of road on the hills all over Missouri , off the paved road.. If your looking for a paved road stay in a Hotel. We had a VW Passat and a Cube that was in our party and they made it down the hill and up the hill plenty of times with no trouble or damage. If you don't know how to drive on steep Rock roads then my advice would be to stay in a Hotel, or stay up top.
2. A lot of people here were complaining about the Bathrooms being dirty, This amazes me really, I think the complainers have never truly been camping. I realize in Missouri alot of State parks have bathrooms and Showers, but many many places have neither.
The Bathrooms have flush toilets and Showers with Hot Water Free in Happy Hollow. While we were there over Labor Day weekend, they were kept clean.
To those of you that have written poor reviews, stay at a hotel, Camping is not about Flush Toilets, and Warm Showers. For those of you that know what camping is, you will enjoy it. Good Shaded Spots and electric if you want it for a small fee.
If your going to stay in Happy Hollow, you can drive a car, but use some sense! If you go bailing down the hill like an idiot you could do some damage.
Tent camping in Happy Hollow is wonderful, however if you have a camper and are considering staying in Happy Hollow, the road is pretty Steep with some twists. I would not advise taking a camper down low.
They do have tons of room for campers up top though.
Thanks Jasonplace for another wonderful Labor Day Stay and Float, Our Group will be back again Next Labor Day!
