I was at Akers Ferry a few years ago and the campground there was inactive due to flooding. There was no shade and the place was bare. I see it is active again as a campground for group sites. Is the campground nice and is there shade?

As you can see from the following "crude" satellite photo that I've put together, there is partial shade in all of the 4 group campsites. An improvement over the old Akers regular campsites (which is now the Akers Ferry parking lot). Also, all campsites are close to the river, which is another plus. The only downfall that I would give the group campsites is that itself, they are group campsites. There are 4, which can acquire up to 45 people per site. If you get one or more that has a rowdy bunch and your party isn't the rowdy type, then it could spoil the setting which I think is nice. *These 4 group campsites are located just up river from Akers on the same side of the river that the Akers Ferry establishment is on. There is talk that Akers, along with the NPS, will reopen it's parking lot/field are to regular camping in the near future. The NPS is currently building a ranger station there. I hope this helps.
