I'm thinking about floating from Baptst Church to Cedar or cedar to Akers this weekend 6/4. Its been a long time since I've done this stretch. Do you know if the river level will be high enough? What are the scenary and attractions on this part of the river?
Thanks
Wade

Yes, that stretch is navigatable right now and VERY beautiful this time of year. The river levels gauge height is at about 1.26 ft. right now. I had floated it at 1.32 ft. with a fully loaded canoe and 3 people. You may drag your canoe is a few spots if fully loaded, but nothing that can't be gotten through, since there are plenty of deep spots. If one has a fully loaded canoe, then I wouldn't recommend this stretch below 1.20 ft. Those with empty canoes though, not a problem at that level. Levels can be found on the river levels page here: www.missouriscenicrivers.com/riverlevels.htmlThe benefit of this stretch of the river is that most people steer away from the low water, especially above Cedar Grove, which sets the scene for some privacy on the river. It's about a 8-9 mile float. There are some deep holes along this route for fishing and swimming, plus a sand beach at Parkers Hollow. There is a very small creek that flows into the Current right next to the sand beach. Parkers hollow historic home is just about a 1 mile walk up a trail from this spot. Besides that, there aren't many other notable springs or caves along this stretch. Those would be further down below the Cedargrove bridge. Steve Webmaster
